Today I am sharing with you my step-by-step makeup routine! Every month I like to switch up some of my makeup products, it’s fun to try new ones and see what works and what doesn’t. You’ll probably notice that I don’t have a mascara step in here, that’s because I am apprenticing at a spa that does eyelash extensions so I’m currently getting my lashes done for free. However, if I didn’t have my little free lash extension benefit I would be using my ever-so-loved Lilash and Younique 3D Moodstruck Mascara that I swear by [as seen in my previous post, “My Secret Weapons”]. So without further ado, I bring to you my current makeup routine faves!
STEP 1: Younique Glorious Face & Eye Primer
I always begin with my Younique Glorious Face & Eye Primer. This stuff is FANTASTIC! I have tried quite a few other primers before (including Smashbox) and I must say that this one is definitely my favorite. It goes on silky smooth, keeps my makeup in place all day, prevents it from flaking and enhances the color and texture of my makeup. I seriously love it!
This is STILL hands-down my favorite concealer. I’ve tried so many and Nars’ is the only one that actually covers up my dark circles, redness and the (thankfully) occasional yet always dreadful pimple without sinking into fine lines or fading off throughout the day. This part has two steps because I’ve noticed that if I let this product sit on my face for 15-20 seconds before rubbing it in, the texture becomes slightly thicker and I can get more coverage that way. I wear this concealer in the shade “Chantilly”. I apply four dots under each eye and a little bit on the bottom of my rosy cheeks, then I let it sit for just a moment and dab it in with my ring finger for a naturally radiant amount of coverage!
STEP 4: Mac Pro Longwear Foundation
One issue I’ve always seemed to have with MAC is that their products dry out my skin! Whether it’s my face or lips, I can never win! However, since using my Younique Glorious Face & Eye Primer I have had not a single negative thing to say about this foundation! I’m telling you, primer is SO important! I wear this foundation in “NC15”, using my bareMinerals Perfecting Face brush to apply my foundation because this brush is amazing. I apply only one drop for each side of my face and it always looks even and gorgeous! It also saves me more foundation in the long run! Whoo-hoo!
I am SO in love with this blush in “The Natural High”, it’s not even funny. The color and the way it sits on my skin is flawless! I recommend this blush to EVERYONE. I use my bareMinerals Flawless Face brush to put it on, I’m equally obsessed with this brush, bareMinerals never disappoints!
I like to brush a bit of this bronzer in “Light Bronze” on the sides of my forehead, under my cheek bones and under my jaw line to add a bit of subtle definition. It’s quick, simple, SUPER affordable and I like how light and natural this bronzer looks on me.
This eyeshadow palette is, without a doubt, the best makeup gift I have ever received. The shades in this palette look fantastic for all eye colors, especially for blue eyes! The browns, purple/pinks, gold and blue colors really make my eyes pop! I also use a little bit of the shade “Naked” on my eyebrows to subtly fill them in and lighten them a bit. I know this palette is a bit more on the pricey side, but I haven’t found a collection of colors this perfect and of this great quality anywhere else!
I will usually stop at this step for more of a natural, everyday look. However, I’ll continue onto step #8 for more of an evening look or if I feel like switching it up! 🙂
STEP 8: American Beauty Perfect Brows Pencil & L’Oreal Paris Lip Balm
Now, I know that it’s an eyebrow pencil, but I actually use my American Beauty Perfect Brows Pencil in “Perfect Dark Brown” as eyeliner. Is that weird? I don’t even care, because this is one of the best pencils I’ve ever used. The color is perfect, makes my eyes totally POP and stays ALL day. I absolutely love it!
When I play up my eyes with dark eyeshadow and eyeliner, I almost always tone down the lip with a nude or soft pink color and this color balm in “Pink Satin” is soft, glossy and the loveliest shade of pink!
So that’s the gist of it! What are some of your makeup routine favorites? I’d love to hear, and possibly even try them!
Thanks for reading, and happy Labor Day! 🙂
